“A penny earned is a penny saved.”  This is another important part of growing and should be looked at closely.  Height of trees, topography, road access, quantity and size of fruit, grove condition and travel time to and from the job need to be considered because they add to the cost of picking, which can range between 8 to 15 cents per pound.
